Summary

A leading distributor of laser, light-based, and radio frequency dermatological and surgical equipment is seeking an experienced, full-time electronics technician to assist their repair operations in Buffalo Grove, IL.

The primary role of the electronic technician is to perform repairs on medical instrumentation. Technicians must be familiar with various types of electronic test equipment and troubleshooting procedures. Repairs are completed either on-site or off-site at the facility center. All repairs completed to the highest quality standards and in a timely manner.

Essential Functions

  • Diagnose malfunctioning medical instruments or equipment using standardized testing procedures; examines and tests mechanisms for defects.
  • Determines correct spare parts required to complete repairs. If the parts required are controlled by inventory numbers, the technician is responsible for performing all necessary inventory transactions to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Replaces or repairs defective parts and reassembles instruments or equipment and tests assembly for conformance to specifications.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork (i.e., QC forms, service reports and documentation for completed repairs).
  • Provide technical support to customers and other staff.
  • Abides by all Company safety and health policies and procedures.

Education and Experience Required

  • Associates degree in electrical or electronic repair, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years’ experience servicing electronic equipment. Working in a medical instrument/device instrument industry highly desirable.    

 

Skills Required

  • Positive attitude and approach to the job responsibilities and the Alma team
  • Microsoft Applications (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • NetSuite experience, preferred
  • Familiarity with the use of standard electronic test equipment and have the ability to utilize wiring diagrams and service manuals.
  • Experience working in an ISO certified environment is a plus. 
  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to multitask 

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct reports but assists in mentoring peers and other departments as needed. 

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position also utilizes hand tools and electrical meters. The employee must be able to sit or stand for 8 hours plus.

 

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
